Students and student athletes in Mr. Perceaballi’s six-grade class at Wheeler Avenue Elementary School shared their artistic talents and showed their appreciation for the homeless veterans living on Long Island during their Community Service Project day.
Miss Sonja and Miss Yvonne, two representatives from the Nassau County Council of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, helped to organize this special event. Thanks to the talents and generosity of the students, homeless veterans who sleep in shelters on Long Island will receive a clean decorated pillowcase along with a drawing or message from the students thanking them for their service.
The Community Service Project Day provided the perfect opportunity for the students to express their patriotic pride and to share their compassion for those veterans in need.
